Participation in the Retropixel Congress

Andalucía Play Fest is a major video game event held in Málaga from July 3 to 5, 2026. Over three days, industry professionals, independent studios, emerging creators, and enthusiasts gather in Málaga to share video games, innovation, networking opportunities, and digital culture. It is an experience that connects industry, talent, and community within a single festival, bringing together three key events of the Spanish video game ecosystem in one place: the Iris Games Awards, Guadalindie, and Retropixel.

The Iris Games Awards are a national competition spearheaded by the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Arts and Sciences and the Málaga City Council—through the National Digital Content Hub—to recognize creative excellence in video games developed in Spain.

Guadalindie is a leading professional gathering dedicated to indie video games in Spain. Driven by the MálagaJam association, it connects independent studios, publishers, investors, and emerging talent in an environment designed to create opportunities.

Retropixel, organized by the ALTAIR Association, is a key Spanish event dedicated to classic video game culture and technological preservation. At Andalucía Play Fest, Retropixel bridges the past and future of video games, reminding us that today’s innovation is also built upon the sector’s technological heritage.

Retropixel

The goal of RetroPixel is to showcase the history of computing, the origins of the microcomputer, personal computer, and video game console industries, as well as the evolution of video games over the last 40 years.

The scheduled activities included a segment dedicated to lectures and/or workshops on the history of computing, video game development, the history of video games, and so on. We participated in the Saturday session at 10:10 a.m., which focused on university-level training in video game creation.

Our CEO, Luis Villarejo, has contributed his expertise in developing Virtual Reality experiences; at Immersium Studio, we have been actively involved in university education—such as the Art and Virtual Reality Project, where we collaborate with various educational institutions to create immersive learning scenarios.

We would like to thank the organizers for inviting us to the Retropixel conference; it was a fascinating event that demonstrated the vital role technological evolution has played in the advancement of the audiovisual and video game sectors.
