UCF is committed to immersive training with our experiences

Unió Consorci Formació is committed to our immersive experiences in its training offer to develop key skills in the health and social sector

Unió Consorci Formació (UCF) is a joint initiative of the Union Association of Health and Social Entities and the Health and Social Consortium of Catalonia to support and guide professionals and organizations in the health and social sector in developing training programs and projects. They train and support individuals and organizations with their own training, material, and technological resources, in line with the Catalan healthcare model.

At UCF, they have committed to innovative resources such as immersive training, which allows for an effective, experiential, and applicable learning method. They offer safe training environments where professionals from diverse backgrounds can place themselves in complex situations, better understand the experiences of the people they serve, and improve their communication, emotional, and relational skills.

Within the program “Clear Communication with Patients and Families: The Right to Understand,” funded by the Ministry of Health through the Department of Health, we have developed the activity “Leaving No One Behind: Accessible Communication in Health.” You can find more information about this project here.

In this experience, participants personally encounter the communication barriers that can affect people with visual or hearing impairments. Using virtual reality headsets, participants (both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals) experience what it’s like to receive unclear, inaccessible, or poorly structured health information. This experience allows them to empathize with users to better understand their needs and identify ways to improve communication. At UCF, they have a clear objective: to promote clearer, more accessible, and empathetic communication, fostering safer and more person-centered healthcare environments.

We are very pleased with the results obtained in their evaluations, where participants stated in the satisfaction surveys that they felt immersed in real-life situations applicable to their daily professional lives. They highlighted the positive impact this experience can have on their practice. The use of Virtual Reality was rated very positively, and overall, the activity received an average score of 9.3 out of 10.
