Fibromyalgia Project

The Fibromyalgia project is a project that we have developed for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, to treat patients suffering from fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia syndrome is a chronic, complex condition that causes widespread pain, profound exhaustion, and also a variety of other accompanying symptoms. It primarily affects the soft tissues of the body and does not cause joint pain or swelling. The mechanisms by which it occurs are not well known and therefore no alterations are found in the analyzes or imaging studies that allow the diagnosis to be established. Fibromyalgia shares some characteristics with chronic asthenia or chronic fatigue syndrome or, as it has recently been called, systemic disease due to exercise intolerance.

Application

We have developed an App with a 360º Virtual Reality experience. To access this experience you need a smartphone (Android) and cardboard Virtual Reality glasses.

Fibro VR+ is a Virtual Reality application for mobile devices designed to carry out different sessions of mindfulness, breathing, relaxation and brain training attention.

To achieve this, two different virtual environments have been designed, set in a forest and on a beach, respectively. These environments consist of two videos recorded in 360º, which can be accessed through the use of virtual reality glasses for mobile phones.

We hope that this immersive experience will be of great help to all the people who suffer from this very unknown disease that affects the people who suffer from it so intensely. We have developed this experience with the desire to mitigate the discomfort experienced by these chronic patients.
