Filming of scenes from the project Safety in Chemistry Laboratories.

We start September 2024 with the filming of the scenes of the project Safety in Chemistry Laboratories that we have recorded at the Institut Provençana.

In this immersive experience in Virtual Reality, we will put students of Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycle, in common risk situations in the laboratory that are difficult to recreate in real life.

The user of the experience will play the role of a person who is going to be interviewed for an internship in a cosmetics company where other interns are already participating. In the different options they can choose from, they will encounter various risk situations in the laboratory, such as the appearance of a fire, the spillage of a corrosive chemical product or a cut with a glass material. You will have to make decisions, which are the ones that will make the experience continue along one path or another. They will receive feedback on each decision taken and will be able to go back and compare the different possible options. This experiential learning will allow the user to better retain content thanks to the emotional character of immersive learning in a real, non-digital environment.

It is very important for students to know how to act in each situation, without losing their nerves, because each action can have very different consequences, either improving the situation or making it worse. Emergencies in a laboratory context have protocols that must be known and applied in a determined manner in order to obtain a good result and not complicate the correction of the error made.

We are very happy with the result of this shooting as it has been very demanding due to the complexity required by some actions such as generating a real fire in the laboratory or using a mask against noxious gases. We would like to thank all the technicians responsible for the great work they have done, making all these complex scenes possible. We are sure that this immersive experience will help many students to improve their emergency response skills, and that they will not underestimate the need to act correctly in order not to make any situation worse.
