CLARIAH-CAT Project
27 de March de 2026
CLARIAH-CAT is a network that brings together universities, research centers, and cultural institutions to promote the digital humanities in Catalonia. The network encourages the use of data, digital tools, and new methodologies for studying language, literature, history, and cultural heritage, and works to facilitate collaboration among researchers, institutions, and society.

CLARIAH-CAT is inspired by and structured as the Catalan node of the European infrastructures CLARIN and DARIAH, two international benchmarks in the field of digital humanities. CLARIAH-CAT is also part of the national infrastructure CLARIAH-ES, which integrates the Spanish nodes of the European networks CLARIN and DARIAH. Both projects work in alignment with their development objectives.

The CLARIAH project aims to establish a multidisciplinary Catalan network dedicated to the digital humanities, with the goal of coordinating and promoting the dissemination and transfer of research results to society as a whole.
The CLARIAH-CAT ecosystem connects three key communities:
- Research: Research groups in digital humanities
- Cultural institutions: Museums, libraries and archives
- Technology: Digital tools, data, and research infrastructure
At Immersium Studio, we are involved in the technology section, where we contribute our expertise in immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality to the community. We have extensive experience developing these technologies in educational and corporate environments. Our immersive learning experiences are used in universities such as the University of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University, and the Open University of Catalonia; in international institutions such as the United Nations, Doctors Without Borders, and the Institute for Organ Donation and Transplantation; and in local institutions such as the Government of Catalonia and various Local Employment Services.
Kick off meeting
The first meeting of the project took place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in which we had the pleasure of participating.

In this first meeting, the main objectives of the network were defined, which are:
- Value placed on cultural and humanistic elements by contemporary society
- To promote the development and impact of Catalan research in Digital Humanities
- Infrastructure development and interoperability

The four main actions of the program were also defined:
- Open platform for research and innovation
- Open and participatory innovation actions
- Valorization and transfer activities
- Digital Humanities Training Plan
In subsequent meetings, the actions of each member of the community will be decided with the shared goal of putting research at the service of all and facilitating the impact on the entire ecosystem.
