The UB Community is thrilled with our immersive Virtual Reality experiences.

The University of Barcelona regularly uses the immersive experiences we have specially designed for them, as we are their official providers after winning the 2023 public tender to design their experiences. Among these experiences, we have two in the educational and social fields: Trans*RV and Management and Interventions in Grief Situations, and another in the medical field: Physical Examination of a Patient and Symptom Detection. These experiences are regularly used in the Medicine and Biomedical Sciences programs at UB across various specialties, including nursing, medicine, podiatry, and dentistry, among others.

The Trans* Virtual Reality experience was created with the help of Pepita Giménez Bonafé, a professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona. This experience offers users the opportunity to immerse themselves in everyday discrimination situations faced by gay, lesbian, and trans people through the use of Virtual Reality headsets.

In the Words of Pepita Giménez Herself

“The Trans*VR experience is loved by the entire UB community”

This experience is regularly used in UB training programs within the fields of Medicine and Health Sciences. It was also used by students in the Digital Information and Documentation Management degree at FIMA, in the Interaction Design course, during their recent visit to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Bellvitge. During this visit, carried out as part of the Trans* Virtual Reality project, they were able to experience firsthand the use of Virtual Reality as a tool for awareness-raising and the analysis of immersive experiences, with the goal of evaluating the usability and interaction design of an immersive environment.

Although the social theme of the project carries significant emotional weight and has been highly appreciated by participants, the main focus of the visit was the analysis of the user experience and the usability of the immersive devices. The students were able to observe how these experiences are designed to promote a realistic and meaningful immersion, analyzing aspects such as ergonomics, interface, navigation, and the emotional responses of users.

It is a great joy for us to know that our experiences are well received by UB students and that they have a positive impact on their education at various levels.
