Immersium Studio wins the University of Barcelona’s public tender to design its Virtual Reality learning resources.
Last April 2023, the University of Barcelona launched a public call for the “design and development services of immersive experiences and virtual simulation for the University of Barcelona” (file 2023/95), and at Immersium Studio we are very happy to share with you that we have won this tender! We will be in charge of designing the Virtual Reality learning materials for the students of the University of Barcelona.
Several companies with expertise in this sector submitted their technical and financial proposals in sealed, encrypted envelopes, which were evaluated by a panel of experts. Our proposal was the highest-rated of all those submitted and received the highest score, and was therefore chosen to carry out this immersive experience design and development service.

The University of Barcelona enjoys great national and international prestige, as demonstrated by its first position in Spain and its status as the first Spanish university to appear in the 2023 Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
The University of Barcelona is addressing different actions to modernize and digitize the University within its Unidigital C21.I5.P1.S8 project linked to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU (RD 641/2021 of July 27, 2021 – UNIDIGITAL). Among these actions is its own project DIGAPREN, Digitalization of learning environments: HALC classrooms (Hybrid Active Learning Classrooms) and simulation tools, which is putting out to tender the contracting of the design and development services of several immersive and interactive 3D videos that simulate situations and experiences in 360-degree Virtual Reality as a training resource for university students of different disciplines.
The fact that the University of Barcelona has chosen us to develop its Virtual Reality resources reaffirms our role as a benchmark in immersive learning.

In this project, we are developing various immersive virtual reality simulation experiences that will allow students to experience real-life situations from their future professional lives. They will be able to practice their reactions to different situations and scenarios in which they will have to make decisions and interact with other professionals or users of their services.
Before the end of the year, we will address the first two simulations in Virtual Reality.
The first simulation we will address will be in the medical field and will consist of the physical examination of a patient and symptom detection, recreating a scenario that allows for the recurring practice of a patient’s physical examination using the acronym ABCDE (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, and Exposure). This activity will be aimed at undergraduate students in health sciences (nursing, medicine, dentistry, and podiatry).
The second simulation we will address will be in the pedagogical and social sphere, and will involve the management and actions in situations of grief. A situation will be recreated in which the professional faces a primary school student who has lost a family member. This activity will be aimed at students of Pedagogy, Teaching, and Social Education.
