Production of the Soft Skills experience to improve employability in VR: Conflict Resolution

As part of the Soft Skills Project to Improve Employability in VR, we are developing various immersive experiences for the Castellar del Vallès City Council to enhance soft skills such as communication, teamwork, planning and organization, conflict resolution, and adaptability in the job search.

Conflict resolution

This soft skill is the second we’ve developed, and we’ve developed a script where the user will be placed in the middle of scenes in which they will have to decide how to act. Depending on their decisions, the experience will take one direction or another, and it’s in these moments that they will have to become aware of their actions consequences.

This experience takes place in a supermarket where a customer arrives with an expired product, and a conflict arises between the store clerks and the customer. In these cases, it is key to maintain control of the situation by applying active listening, empathy, and finding solutions, among other things, to successfully resolve the conflict. The user will receive feedback on their decisions, so they become aware of how their actions influence the successful resolution of the conflict.

This experience will allow you to experience firsthand how essential conflict resolution is in the daily work of many people. Conflict resolution is very important between team members, but it’s even more important for people who work in a customer-facing role, as they may encounter tense situations with many different types of people and for very different reasons. Being able to resolve a conflict in a conscientious and respectful manner greatly enhances the skills of a customer-facing employee.
