Past October, Immersium Studio visited Helsinki XR Center as a part of a Virtual Reality training that we carried out in Helsinki (Finland) within the ITSHEC project (Integration of Transversal Skills in health and social care Higher Education and Curriculum) of which we are a part.
Helsinki XR Center is an incubator for talent in the field of eXtended Reality (Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality). They offer workspace, equipment, co-learning and mentoring for teams and also for companies and other organizations. They have a lot of high-level and state-of-the-art equipment students were able to use. This way, they manage to realize first-hand the full potential of these technologies.
They have a XR Design Degree Program that is hold on Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, that is right next to Helsinki XR. Right from the beginning, XR Design students have been an active and essential part of Helsinki XR Center’s (HXRC) projects and happenings. Helsinki XR Center and the staff and students of XR Design work very closely together.
During the time we were there, we were able to visit a test room where they had a wide variety of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality equipment. We are very happy of having the possibility of testing different equipment. It is impressive how technology advances, especially in the field of medicine to offer trainings as useful as realistic. We are sure that Extended Reality technology will advance a lot in nearly future, which will allow us to develop even more realistic immersive experiences.
