The workshop “New trends in Virtual Reality in Chemistry 2023” will be held on September 19th<\/sup> and 20th<\/sup> and it will bring together worldwide leading experts<\/strong> in the application and development of Virtual Reality<\/strong>.  The objective of this workshop, is to delve into the wide range of posibilities that the use of virtual and augmented reality offers inside research fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Augmented Reality<\/strong> and Virtual Reality<\/strong> are very useful tools in the chemical world<\/strong> because they allow to explore the atomic and molecular environment<\/strong> in an inmersive way<\/strong>. In the last years, thanks to the technical advances and the computing power of the newer computers, there has been incredible progress in the field. Companies specialized in the development of these techniques applied to chemistry have started to appear, such as Nanome and Visyon, providing a greater access to these technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institut of Computational Chemistry<\/a> and the Doctoral Program on Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling are organizing this event with the support of the Red Espa\u00f1ola de Supercomputaci\u00f3n<\/a>, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center<\/a>, the Facultat de Farm\u00e0cia i Ci\u00e8ncies de l\u2019Alimentaci\u00f3<\/a>, the Facultat de Qu\u00edmica<\/a>, and the Societat Catalana de Qu\u00edmica<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry<\/strong> of the Universitat de Barcelona<\/strong> (IQTCUB) is an institute integrated by more than 90 researchers, experts in several fields of the Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. The research activity carried out at the IQTCUB covers methods and computational tools development, application of several techniques of electronic structures and simulation to problems in materials science, the study of reactivity and reaction dynamics in chemical reactions as well as of biological systems and soft-matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop “New trendsin Virtual Reality in Chemistry 2023” will last for two days, and will include talks by invited speakers from both academia and industry. Here<\/a> you can see the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the invited speakers from wednesday 20th will be Luis Villarejo<\/strong>, CEO of Immersium Studio, talking about using Virtual Reality to improve soft skills. Other speakers will explain how to merge research, diffusion, entertainment, teaching, with Virtual Reality and Metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual Reality<\/strong> can be used in many fields and chemistry is one of them. The visualization of molecules<\/strong> and 3D models<\/strong> can be a great advantage to understand the functioning of chemical bonds<\/strong>, the interaction between molecules<\/strong> or their behavior in certain environments and situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The application of Virtual Reality<\/strong> is spreading in many sectors of industry and education<\/strong> and is increasingly present in many areas. We are very happy to be able to participate in workshops like this where society and students are shown the great potential of immersive technologies<\/strong> in very diverse fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
